Anne Haas Dyson zum 75. Geburtstag (12.11.1950)

Ja, es gibt auch noch Lebende, denen man zum Geburtstag gratulieren kann.

So eine ist Anne Haas Dyson, deren Werke den Alten in seinen Arbeiten stets inspiriert und bestätigt haben.
Und dann war da noch der Seufzer seiner alten Londoner Mentorin Margaret Meek: “Anne spricht nur noch von Bachtin, Bachtin, Bachtin …!”

Ganz an Michail Bachtin angelehnt schreibt Anne Haas Dyson hierin:
«(…) the key to human consciousness is the entrance of [the] utterance into a responsive (if tension-filled) relationship with others.» (p. 218)

Die ästhetischen und sprachlichen Produktionen der Kinder verlangen also danach, von anderen Kindern und Erwachsenen aufgenommen, angeschaut, angehört und kritisch mit hartnäckigem Engagement kommentiert und somit wertgeschätzt zu werden.

An anderen Orten schreibt Dyson passend dazu:
«I have to hear the children’s talk; see the process by which the drawing or writing takes shape on the page and show it is interwoven with talk to self, to teacher, to peers; and pay attention to if and how the children’s texts are coordinated with those of partners.» (p. 49)

Anne Haas Dyson betont immer wieder in ihren Werken den Sinn und die Notwendigkeit des gemeinsamen Erlebens, Schaffens und Kommentierens der ästhetischen und sprachlichen Gestaltungen der Kinder:
«(…) all children need social companions and meaningful – “relevant” – activity; and
they all have resources with which to build possibilities for composing. (…) promoting children’s opportunity to build on what they know (…) to have some agency in taking control and making sense of new symbolic tools for participating, extending, and even transforming their worlds and their very selves.» (p. 11)

«(…) agency is not (..) just about choosing activities from a set of choices; in school, it involves interest-driven choices that allow children to stretch their knowledge and know-how and (..) to potentially negotiate a social place for themselves.» (p. 32)
(…) In feeling addressed, responded to and heard, she found her own voice. (…) the singing, talking, drawing, and dancing nourished the children’s relationships with each other.» (p.106)

Diese ganzen Prozeduren vergleicht Anne Haas Dyson ansprechend mit dem Weben und Stricken eines Kilts: «(…) to knit thematic quilts (…).» (p.109)
